CODE OF CONDUCT / CHRISTIAN LIFESTYLE
Romans 12:1-2, 9-10 (MSG)
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply; practice playing second fiddle.
As Christians, we want to live with consistency in both our personal life and the life of our church. Within our commitment is a lifestyle that reflects Romans 12 and living a life that is representative of Christ’s example. This includes:
- Avoiding movies/media (print or otherwise) that highlights gratuitous sex or violence
- Overindulgence in alcohol and no alcohol served at church functions
- No sexual misconduct outside of God’s plan (anything outside of God’s plan for marriage according to Genesis 2:24 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.”)
- The use of illegal drugs
Relate Church reserves the right to change the course structure at any time during the year at its own discretion. This includes a decision to not offer a particular course or stream due to student numbers. The availability of staff may cause minor variations in the course offered. Graduation from Relate Interns does not guarantee automatic Church employment within Relate Church. Some streams may not be offered in a year if minimum numbers are not met.
During your time as an intern photographs may be taken for promotional purposes only. Please advise the church before commencement if you have any objections to this.
I declare that the information I have submitted to Relate Interns is true withholding no information that would disqualify my application. I commit to adhere to the RI requirements and will submit to the leadership of Relate Interns and Relate Church. I will conduct myself according to the calling of God to live in a manner representing Christ’s example in my life. This is my acknowledgement that I have read, understand, accept the above statements included on this form.
