Community Care

The Church exists to help people. Our goal is to bring hope and help to the people in our community on a local level. A few of our Community Care initiatives are detailed below, along with some great Christmas projects you can get involved with. For more information on any of these initiatives, please call the church office at 604.599.8989 or email relate@relatechurch.ca.
Adopt-A-School Project
Relate Church has partnered with the school district in Surrey to help provide for the needs of children in three schools in Surrey's most needy neighbourhoods. It's a privilege for us to serve our community in this way and we would welcome your involvement.
Clothes on Wheels is a new, free clothing program created in partnership with School District 36 and the City of Surrey and Relate Church. The purpose of this program is to produce special 1 day seasonal events that provide free clothing, jackets, shoes and accessories to vulnerable adults and children right in the school's own gym up to four times per school year. The program provides participating schools with a special team of volunteers that bring clothing in, set everything up, offer assistance to people using the service then remove the remaining clothing and clean-up.
Prison Project
Teams from Relate Church regularly visit the Fraser Valley Correctional Institute as well as the Surrey Pre-Trial Centre to minister to both men and women who are incarcerated. Volunteers teach several life-skills and relationship courses to bring hope and wholeness to people who need it desperately.
Care Home Project
In partnership with Brookside Lodge, we provide regular visits to help care for the elderly who are housed there. Special treats include entertainment, baking, interaction with children and other various initiatives which help to improve the quality of life for this aging community.
Red Box Campaign
Signature Red Boxes have been crafted which have now come to represent a sign of hope wherever they travel. The Red Boxes contain items of hygiene such as toothbrushes and combs and a note which lets the recipient know that we care. These boxes are distributed to Syrus Centre in Abbotsford, Salvaton Safe House, Night Shift etc.
Hospital Project
In partnership with the Greater Vancouver Hospitals, we consistently bring lunch, dinner, and coffee to the parents of very sick children who are dealing with extremely difficult circumstances. A Red Box is also delivered to each parent.
Surrey Food Bank Projects
In partnership with the Surrey Food Bank, volunteers work in the Tiny Tot program to help serve moms with diapers, formula and food.
Food Drive Project
With the intent of always being ready to provide for families in need in our community, we always welcome cans of food and other non-perishable items.
